Blue Horizon Shipping was founded in 2020 on a simple conviction: commodity trading needed less opacity and more partnership.
We started with three people, one phone, and a network of relationships built over decades in agricultural trade.
In the years since, we have grown into a multi-continent trading and logistics firm — but the operating principle is unchanged. Every shipment is somebody’s livelihood at one end of the chain and somebody’s food security at the other. That weight informs how we work.
We are deliberately mid-sized. Large enough to charter vessels, finance positions, and weather market cycles. Small enough that the principal you meet on day one is the principal you call when there is a problem at port.
Our trading desk covers grains, oilseeds, vegetable oils, and their derivatives. Our logistics desk handles the freight, documentation, and quality control that turn a contract into a delivery. Most of our clients use both.
Four principles, applied without exception.
Markets reward people who do the unglamorous work — paperwork, quality checks, follow-up calls. We do that work.
We measure success in repeat business. A counterparty who trusts us in year five is worth more than a hot trade in year one.
Origins, grades, freight rates — clients see what we see. There are no information asymmetries built into our model.
We choose origins and partners who treat soil, oceans, and labor as long-term capital, not externalities.
